Rio Rancho, New Mexico
Like any other city, there are pros and
cons in living in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The affordable housing is a big
attraction for those who want a nice place yet friendly on the budget. Its many
parks, hiking trails, and golf courses make it very appealing for those who
love outdoor activities. Since there are also areas for skiing and
snowboarding, you can enjoy various activities all year round. But on the
downside, Rio Rancho is just a growing community. This means that cultural
opportunities are limited compared with larger cities like New York,
California, or Austin. So, before you settle here, make sure that you know what
you are dealing with and that you are prepared to live a laidback life.
Albuquerque Biological Park
If you want a one-stop recreational venue,
go and visit Albuquerque Biological Park. This is a complex that comes with
four different attractions – aquarium, botanical garden, zoo, and beach. The
Albuquerque Aquarium is home to a variety of marine animals from around the
world while the Albuquerque Zoo houses more than 250 species of animals. After you are done with your animal
exploration, you can enjoy a refreshing view of nature at the Rio Grande
Botanic Garden. This section showcases different native plants of New Mexico
and also a Japanese garden. Lastly, end your day at the Tingley Beach where you
can enjoy different water activities.
Albuquerque Taxpayer’s Money Spent on Artificial Turf in Rio Rancho
The City of Albuquerque is now on hot spot
because of spending almost $250,000 on artificial turf for a privately owned
indoor football field located in Rio Rancho. The installation of turf was in
Rio Rancho Events Center with the Gladiator’s team logo with it. According to
the Inspector General, the spending is unconstitutional since the project used
taxpayer money to benefit a private business. City administrators justify the
purchase saying that the project brings benefit to the people of Albuquerque
since the center hosts various youth activities. Investigation continues but if
proven guilty, the authorities will surely face huge penalty for their actions.
